Nige is doing very well. A week ago he visited our local GP and they figured out a plan to wean Nige off the morphine, and in two weeks he will be off it completely. This first week he has cut down from 40mg a day, to 30mg a day without any side affects. Nige isn't in pain anymore but the weaning off process must be slow to avoid side affects.
Nige is still uncomfortable where his scar is. It is still an effort getting in and out of the car. He went for a drive in the weekend on his own but is happy for me to continue driving for a bit longer yet.
I'm very thankful that Nige has been careful not to push himself and he has been very sensible about not lifting heavy items and resting when he needs to. He doesn't want to go through something like this again and so is being careful not to upset the healing process.
Nige has a feeling of tightness on the surface of his scar but on the inside he says it feels like things are still settling. Knowing that his 'guts' were out on the table and got lifted back in following the surgery on his pancreas kind of makes sense when you hear him say, "things are still settling." It truly is amazing what the doctors can do these days!
I measured Nige's scar last week and it's actually 25cm long - it just looked about 30cm with all the tape on it earlier! :) It is a good clean and thin looking scar - the surgeon was very tidy.
A few days after we arrived back home we received a comment on the blog from a lady in South Carolina, USA who also has been suffering with pancreatitis and who was searching on the Internet for the Puestow Procedure and came across our blog. She was encouraged to read about Nige's surgery and how he was doing following the procedure. She had surgery today and so now we are following her blog. Her and her husband were about to be sent on to the mission field to Argentina but had to head back to the US so she could have this surgery first. You never know how the Lord may use any of us in the lives of fellow believers, even believers we've never met!

We continue to pray for Nigel's recovery! And how exciting about the believer's who were going to ARGENTINA (of all places). You'll have to give me their blog site!!!
Love you guys and miss you!!!
I just emailed you guys. I mentioned that I was going to check the blog. Well, I have obviously and it's so funny to see many of the same feelings and concerns there! You answered many of the questions I had about Nigel's progress. I couldn't wait to check to see what was going on with you all. BTW, the Fall pictures are gorgeous! My favorite season!
