Nige's Surgery - Update #6

This morning I arrived to find Nige a bit down . . . down about still having the feeding tube down his nose. It hurts when he talks because it rubs against his adams apple. But he is able to eat with it and was told by the dietician this morning that if he eats (and keeps down) 1000 calories today then there might be the possibility of it coming out by days end. So he gave it his best shot only to be told this evening that it would need to stay in overnight as they wanted to feed him through the night via the tube. He was so disappointed . . . and a little frustrated too. Despite this disappointment there has been a general improvement in him again today. He did well with eating solids - he had KFC mashed potato and gravy for lunch (kindly brought in by the Rogers) and then hospital mashed potato for dinner, along with a few bites of crumbed fish, oh and a Fruju earlier in the day.

Every day we've been here at the hospital we've had friends from Riverbend Bible Church come visit, which is so awesome and we truly see the Lord's hand in bringing all these people to Auckland for various reasons, this particular week, to be an encouragement to us. Today was the biggest number of visitors, with 10 from RBC visiting along with three other friends from Keri Keri.

Later this evening I was talking with a friend from Riverbend and she shared the following verses which were an encouragement to me and I will share them with Nige in the morning:

Whom have I in heaven but You?
And besides You, I desire nothing on earth.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
For, behold, those who are far from You will perish;
You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to You.
But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;
I have made the Lord GOD my refuge,
That I may tell of all Your works.
Psalm 73:25-28

Just wanted to let you know that we are praying for Nige to feel better and be able to get that feeding tube out - maybe even today! We pray for your strength and endurance also. It is difficult to be strong sometimes, but we know the author of our strength and He gives us all we need when we need it!

I don't know if you had read it or not, but my dad (95 yrs old) passed away this past Tues. The service will be on 4/22. We are praying that eyes will be opened and ears will hear the Good News!

Love and hugs to you and Nige! Give him one for us please!
