a noisy night

About midnight last night the helicopter arrived at the orchard behind our place.  We'd seen him fly over yesterday afternoon a few times but the thought never entered our minds that he'd be back for the night.
At this time of year, when we are getting frosts, a helicopter is sometimes hired by the orchard owner to come and hover over their orchard moving the cold air away from their trees, hence protecting the new growth on the trees.  It's all quite interesting really . . . but also very noisy.
It was a long night for the helicopter pilot, as well as us!  He was here from midnight till 7:15 am this morning.  Sometime around 4am I reached out beside the bed and found my earplugs and was able to block the noise out a little bit.  The season has just begun . . .

ouchy price tag for that chopper as well!! that would have cost the grower around $2000 per hour!!!! have to say its nicer being the one listening to the noise than having to stress about the effects of it though!!! hope you get a reprieve tonight. :-)
