camping 2012

Once again we headed off to our annual camping trip at Papamoa Beach, or more specifically (as we don't actually spend a whole lot of time at the beach!), Pacific Park Christian Holiday Park.  This year the Henderson's campsite (next to ours) became available two days early enabling them to arrive the same day as us.  So we travelled up together, helped each other put up all the tents (four of them), went to the supermarket together, and finally sat down to eat dinner together that first night at 9:30 pm!
Here's Daniel eating dinner - it was amazing he was still awake enough to eat!  But he managed :)
The next morning Nige, Phil and Max headed off on a ride to The Mount - about 18km each way.  Oh, and they stop for coffee and a sit down at one of the many cafes at The Mount before coming home.
Nige and Phil went out riding most mornings and upon arrival back I made pancakes for breakfast (only on a few mornings), with lemon juice and sugar sprinkled on - yum!  I think Natalie made fried eggs on the BBQ served on toast, for Phil.

Recently we were staying with the Roodt family in Tauranga and Bernie taught me a great tip for making pancakes and everyone still being able to eat the meal together (rather than the cook being left in the kitchen till everyone's done, and then she gets to eat hers).  The tip is to sit a plate on a pot of boiling water and as each pancake is cooked flip it up into the air and have it land perfectly on the plate, then cover with a large pot lid.  It works great, and it was lovely to sit and enjoy the pancakes together.
