a little road trip

We had the great joy of friends from Riverbend Bible Church visit Los Angeles during our time here.  Liz Wilson and her daughter Jessica were with us for eight days, and we had a blast!  The day after they arrived in LA we headed off to Las Vegas for three nights - just us girls.  Nige was back in LA, writing, writing, writing!  About an hour out of Las Vegas the sky was just this big white blanket . . . of rain!  And it was heavy rain!  The roads flooded instantly, traffic slowed right down, and people turned their hazard lights on so we could all see each other.
Our first night was at Caesar's Palace (this picture is taken out by the swimming pool).  Liz's three kids had given her tickets for the Celine Dion concert, held at Caesar's Palace.
The next night we stayed at The Luxor
Liz and I went for a ride on the tram that runs between Mandalay Bay, The Luxor and Excalibur.  We hopped on at The Luxor and went back and forth twice and hopped back off at The Luxor.  It wasn't a long ride but just enough time to sit back and relax with our drinks - "extra foam latte" for Liz and I enjoyed a hot apple cider with a dash of cinnamon.
We enjoyed a walk through The Venetian casino - it looks like we're outside, but it's inside.  It's pretty amazing and you almost feel like you could be in Venice . . . except most people are talking 'American' :)
Liz posing beside two 'vines on stilts'.  They were a bit weird, walking around posing but certainly drew a crowd.
The Conservatory at The Bellagio . . . it is so beautiful in there, and different every time I've gone there.
Another scene in the conservatory
We enjoyed the water fountain dancing to music out front of The Bellagio, and across the street is the Paris casino, with their own Eiffel Tower (just a little smaller than the original).  Beautiful!
It was VERY hot while we were in Vegas, like 43oC (109oF).  We drank lots of water and hurried from the air-conditioned car to the next air-conditioned building.
