Red White and Blue

One of the students at TSBC this year is from Nevada, USA and she comes for dinner most weeks and we thought it would be fun to do something small to acknowledge American Independence Day by having a red, white and blue theme dinner.  Even though it's winter here we had hot dogs for dinner, with coleslaw and baked beans as side dishes.  Sitting next to me at the table is Michelle from Nevada, and next to Nige is Reuben (NZ) and Verity (Canada) Pickering.
Our dessert was red, white and blue too - vanilla ice cream, raspberry sorbet and blueberries, topped off with spoon shaped cookies that I made (recipe from Martha Stewart.com).
After dinner Nige, Reuben and Michelle got the slot car track set up, while Verity and I looked through old photos of Nige and I and had a few laughs - Nige with hair and me with 80's style permed hair!
