a little trip away

When Nige gets back from his trip to Los Angeles the next day he will be teaching a class in the afternoon and another one in the evening, and then two days later he flies up to Auckland to teach a TSBC block course for the weekend.  That day after arriving back is also my birthday and so we thought we celebrate before he goes to LA.  I had some United air miles that were about to expire so we used them to book a night at a hotel over in Napier.  Breakers Restaurant had also sent me a $10 off voucher for my birthday so it worked out to be a cheap time away.  Yah!
Since the hotel was in town we left our car at the hotel and just walked to the restaurant and afterwards went for a stroll toward the ocean and sat for a while at "Victoria's Bell".  It was a lovely evening for a walk and was just a lovely time together.
Here's the view from our hotel window - its looking out toward the ocean where we're sitting in the above photo.
The hotel (Quest) was renovated a couple years ago.  Its an older building and they've kept its art deco facade on the outside but in order to have enough parking spaces for guests and because there wasn't enough room to have ramps between the two parking levels, they installed a car elevator!!  Nige is backed in ready to go down a floor.
And here we are between the two levels.  It was a new and interesting experience for us :)
