4th of july celebrations

We found out that Old Town Temecula was going to be having a "Star Spangled Parade" on July 4th, so we thought we'd go down and check it out.  It was fun to be there.  The parade began with someone singing the national anthem and most people were respectful, quiet, men took off their caps and everyone looked at the flag while the anthem was sung.  The respect that is shown is quite something!
The "ChiPs" were doing fancy riding - in formation here, and also circling a patrol car as they drove down the street.
The "pooper scooper" girls - much needed!
These triplets had a float all of their own, for the Multiple Births Group.
Period costumes - right at home in Old Town Temecula.
The Harley Davidson 'float'.
There were a bunch of old cars - this looks "all-American" to me.  Love it!
One of the cool local fire trucks - a driver up front, AND in back!
The John Deere float.
The Old West gun shooters!
We were fortunate to find a spot to fit our two chairs in-between two groups of people . . . which just happened to be in the shade of a tree - yah!
In the evening we headed over to friends, whose Regional Ministry Group (RMG) from Faith Bible Church was hosting a neighborhood BBQ in their front yard.  There were a handful of neighbors there which was great.  Afterwards most of the group walked around the corner to the park, for dessert, to play games, and watch the fireworks when it got dark.  Needless to say, we enjoyed our first 4th of July in Murrieta/Temecula!
