a little getaway

We were blessed to get away for six days at the beginning of June.  We didn't go too far - just 2.5 hours up the road to Santa Clarita.
This gave us the opportunity to catch up with a few friends we hadn't seen in a while, which was SO good.  Our first night in Santa Clarita we enjoyed Stonefire Grill with Richard and Judy and their girls Naomi and Julia, at a local park.  The girls had fun in the playground, while we chatted close by with Richard and Judy.  It was a long overdue visit with them.
We stayed in the home of some new friends, and thoroughly enjoyed their new pool.  One day I sat out there, reading for a couple of hours, with no sunblock on, and my legs were VERY red and sore later that night! Oops!
We took the opportunity to eat at The Black Cow Cafe in Montrose, where we used to live, and it's become a bit of a tradition that when we eat there now, Mark and Lori join us too.  So fun!
When we weren't sitting by the pool reading, we were at a new Starbucks on Bouquet Cyn & Newhall Ranch.  They had lots of seating, including comfy armchairs (and a cool area outside to park your bike, not that we cycled there).  It was lovely to get away for a restful time.
We also caught up with Mike & Kris - also a visit long overdue!  We are thankful for these friends God has brought into our lives, and even though we don't see each other often anymore we have a bond and a like-mindedness because of what Christ has done for each of us.
Nige did bring his bike with us, and was able to get out twice with Andrew Maly, who showed Nige the cool cycle paths in Santa Clarita.  They had a blast, and came home VERY hot after their afternoon rides.
